Tips on Meeting a Comic Artist at a Convention

On November 4th and 5th, 2017, World Renown artist Mike Grell and Arvell Jones will be attending Pop Con. Both have esteemed careers as original comic artist.

For those not familiar with how to interact with comic artists, this article will provide some quick tips on what to expect and how to be prepared.

Both artists will be on hand to sign autographs, either your comic book or action figure, or you can choose from a wide variety of prints that they will have on hand. There is a fee for their signatures and prints. For those wanting something a little more personal, the artists will do quick sketch on cards or an art book which you bring. If you really want to come home with something special, they are available to draw a head or full figure character for you. Price depends on the detail desired.

Comic convention art has been around since the 1960s but continues to grow in popularity. One aspect of convention art that I really enjoy is that you get to collaborate with the artist and can provide feedback into the finished product. When you pay for a commission, you get a chance to be Stan Lee and provide direction to the artists.

I highly recommend meeting these two very talented and special individuals. I have worked with both over the past several years and not only are they gifted, but both a great individuals that will be happy to share the history of the comic book world- from an insider’s perspective.

Mike Grell is known for his work for Green Arrow, the Long Bow Hunter, Sable, War Lord, and he draws a mean Batman.

Arvell Jones hales from the Detroit Motor City and is best known of Misty Knight, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, All Star Squadron, and many more major comic characters. Check them out at the Marvel and DC comic databases to see some of the books they are associated with:
